Welcome to the APP261 Website

We hope to enlighten you in the ways of the APP261 and our frantic antics. We are the merry band of 24 hopeful victims of a flying addiction, trying to gain the ultimate accolade of holding a frozen ATPL.

This website is new and we hope to add features and news as it happens, this does depend upon time and workload and the ability to do 56½things at the same time.

Breaking News List

14/05/2007We are now all back in the UK in phase 4 of the course, now we have the challenge of the infamous IR.

05/12/2006APP261 have finally made it out to Goodyear in the US of A. We had a great flight out and made it to Goodyear airport late on Monday evening (USA time). The first week consisted of breifings on the facility, what we are doing here, the good, the bad and the ugly. Some of us made it out to Scottsdale and Tempe and most have been in the rather cold pool. Our second week should consit of some flying, we'll let you know.

05/12/2006A group of us went to California for Chritmas, we went skiing, Hollywood and to Santa Monica Beech. APP261 members took part in a fantastic new programme called Baywatch, to watch this video, please click here.

10/11/2006Today APP261 finished ground school at Oxford. 6 months after starting, 14 ATLP JAR exams, 40 written exams and a lot of hard work have been done since May 2006. Only 2 weeks until we go to America to start the practical flying.

17/10/2006 APP261 have now finished ground-school at Oxford. Only 14 exams left to do and then the flying commences. It is with a tear in our eyes that we wave goodbye to all the classrooms and lecturers; no more rulers from Tony, 'Bernoullis' from Dick or 'yeshs' from John. Thanks to all from APP261 although we do have to say that we can't wait to do some flying!!

07/10/2006 Most of APP261 went on a great trip paintballing. Driven by Cpt Matt Kerry, now a veteran in the Ford Transit, we all went to a site close to Newbury. After spending the day shooting each other, we all limped back to Oxford sporting many bruises and nasty injuries. A highlight of the day was when roboc**k made a surprise appearance, obviously excited, he was then shot over 150 times by all members of the course!! Painful!! Have a look in the gallery for photos of the event.

30/09/2006 APP261 has its trip to the US Embassy in London. It was a super day with all involved having a great time filling out paper work. After an interview, lie-detector test and cavity search, we all carried on the USA theme by visiting McDonalds. Click Here to see some great photos of the day.

15/09/2006 We have just had our USA briefing on the intricate do’s and don’ts delivered by Mr Peteford, detailing the etiquette of the land unto which we are to travel.

05/09/2006 After a very heavy night out, APP261 visited Rolls Royce in Derby. We would all like to say thanks to Trevor for arranging the trip to all at Rolls Royce. We also had great fun in the Big Fun bus driven by Cpt Matt Kerry after a newly gained type raiting in a Ford Transit.
